WVHS students recognized for Portrait of a Graduate qualities

Warwick Valley High School Associate Principals Christopher Fiorentino, Nicholas Emanuele and Erin Hill-Lewis hosted a morning celebration recognizing students who embody the district’s Portrait of a Graduate qualities on Friday, January 16. Students nominated during the months of September, October, November and December were honored with certificates celebrating their positive contributions to the school community.

The recognition program invites administrators, faculty and staff to nominate students who demonstrate one or more of the seven Portrait of a Graduate qualities: lifelong learner, collaborator, communicator, resilient individual, problem solver, creator/innovator, and ethical and global citizen.

The Portrait of a Graduate model reflects the district’s shared vision for the skills and qualities students should develop during their time at Warwick Valley, helping them prepare for success beyond the classroom and into the world beyond high school.

“Congratulations on everything that you do,” Mr. Fiorentino said. “We appreciate you being role models and examples for everyone in this building. And really, it all comes down to caring. Caring is such an important thing because it encompasses all of the Portrait of a Graduate qualities. You wouldn’t be here if you didn’t care. So please continue to care and continue to lead by example, because when you care, others will too.”
